Q&A 20 - remyelination, AHSCT, dental implants, nootropics, ....

Any updates on Elezanumab? BEAM vs. Cyclophosphamide? Dental implant or not? Any nootropics that work in MS?

Questions

Q1: Any updates on Elezanumab? Did the studies show any improvement in myelin?

Q2: Is BEAM superior to Cyclophosphamide regarding myeloablation in AHSCT? Are the results superior?

Q3: I am a 55-year-old woman diagnosed in 2015. I have been on dimethyl fumarate (Tecfideria) since 2015. I have a very old root canal filling - at least 30 years old which, for the last couple of months, has been showing signs of low-level infection.  My dentist has treated the infection with two courses of antibiotics and has referred me to a root canal specialist to redo the root canal treatment or for an implant. Having read various articles about the evils of root canal treatment and its potential harm to the body and the immune system, I am wondering if it is better to go straight to implant. I appreciate what you would suggest to a patient like me, i.e. to have the root canal refilled modernly or to have an implant. Do you think root canal work should generally be avoided in people with MS?

Q4: Do you have any view on the use of nootropic supplements for MS cognitive symptoms?
