Q&A 96: skin rejuvenation therapy and MS
Is it safe for someone with MS to have polynucleotide skin injections and radio frequency, ultrasound and micro-needling therapy for skin rejuvenation?
Query
I went to my dermatologist for my usual 6-monthly face and neck botox. I asked her for recommendations to freshen/regenerate my skin before a social event I have to attend this summer. She recommended three treatments:
1. Polynucleotides are injectables made from fish DNA (salmon/trout sperm) that stimulate the body's natural repair process. I am confused about whether or not I should proceed. Some say those with autoimmune conditions should not have it, as it is a foreign substance and may exacerbate them; others say there is no problem.
2. Exion Face applicator - uses radio frequency and ultrasound - no needles
3. Exion Fractional RF - uses micro needling and radio frequency procedure
The dermatologist asked me to check with my neurologist to see if I should have these treatments. I am currently on ocrelizumab, and my next Ocrevus infusion is in mid-July.
Thanks
