Q&A 45 - Not to treat MS and smouldering MS
Do you agree with the decision of the two British Olympians and track stars, Lina and Laviai Nielsen, not to take disease-modifying therapies for their MS? I have smouldering MS; any advice?

Q2: I am a 55-year-old man. I have had a lot of stress, and I now find myself in general decline. I think I have smouldering MS. My balance is very poor, and I have spasms in my right arm and leg and debilitating fatigue. I presented with left-sided paralysis in 2012 and was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS in 2014. I have been treated with dimethyl fumarate (Tecfidera), fingolimod (Gilenya) and more recently with alemtuzumab (Lemtrada) in 2017 and 2018. Could I be prescribed a DMT on the NHS? Any advice that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
